On December 28th, the Brookwood Broncos will welcome a stellar field of teams from throughout the state of Georgia to Snellville for the 26th Annual Deep South Classic Basketball Tournament
The Deep South Classic has been a staple the week between Christmas and New Years since the tournament's inaugural event in 1991. Teams from all over the country have made their way to Snellville as we've hosted State Champions as well as future NBA / WNBA players.
The 2017 girls field is LOADED! 5 of the 8 teams have spent time in the Top 10 in their respective classes this season. Holy Innocents' and Northview lead the way, with Cherokee (10-1), Brookwood and Madison County rounding out the Top 10 ranked teams. Perennial State Tournament team Hillgrove, Dacula and Effingham County round out the field.
The Brookwood boys have hoisted the championship trophy 6 times (1995, 1998, 2000, 2008, 2012, 2015) and will be joined by a solid field in 2017. Effingham County and Lanier have both appeared in state rankings this season. Archer started the season by winning the Parkview Thanksgiving Tournament and continues to play very well. Harrison advanced to the finals of the Craig Sager Classic in November before falling to South Gwinnett. Northview, Greenbrier (9-2) and South Forsyth finish out the boys field
